It has been awhile since Matt Cullen scored his first goal of the season, but Nos. 2 and 3 came in less than a periods worth of time.

Cullen scored the first and third Wild goals and assisted on the second to lead the Minnesota Wild to a 3-1 victory over the Edmonton Oilers Thursday at Rexall Place.

The Moorhead native picked up a loose puck at the offensive blue line and raced through a stick check from Mark Fistric to get the short breakaway. Cullen slid the puck between Devan Dubnyk's legs as he cut across the top of the crease to erase a one-goal deficit. Ryan Suter picked up his fifth assist in six games on the play.

Cullen capped the scoring with a wrist shot off a 2-on-1 rush over the blocker shoulder of Dubnyk. Cal Clutterbuck set the odd-man rush up with pass off the boards at the Wild's defensive blue line to Cullen.

Cullen just missed a goal before setting up Devin Setoguchi to score the eventual game-winner two minutes and 20 seconds into the third period.

Smiles turned to concern with two minutes and 33 seconds remaining in the game when Clutterbuck was injured on a dirty hit from Taylor Hall. Clutterbuck cut across the red line as the puck bound behind him and Hall threw his leg into the leg of Clutterbuck. Hall lowered his body and targeted the left leg of Clutterbuck.

Clutterbuck had to be helped off the ice and did not put any pressure on his left leg.

Mike Yeo did not want to talk about the injury, but just said "he's hurt." He also posed the question, what would happen if it was the other way around.

After scoring one goal in regulation in six straight games (getting to two goals twice with an overtime and shootout win during the streak), the Wild has now scored three in three straight.

The Wild (8-6-2) have a day before taking on the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome Saturday.
