Minnesota Wild unable to solve the Vancouver Canucks
The numbers did not support the Wild entering the game
The Wild have scored just one goal in regulation in six straight games. The numbers were even worse in Vancouver. In its last 10 games at Rogers Arena. Roberto Luongo hadn't allowed a goal to the Wild at Rogers Arena in about 185 minutes of action.
The Wild (6-6-1) finally solved Luongo 13 minutes and three seconds into the second period when Devin Setoguchi fired a wrist shot just inside the far post and just under cross bar with two seconds remaining on a power play.
Luongo's shutout streak reached against the Wild at Rogers Arena was snapped at 109 consecutive saves, a stretch of 218 minutes and 26 seconds of game time.
Setoguchi scored his second goal of the season and second in last three games, His scoring streak has moved him into a tie for fourth on the team in goals and seventh in points.
The Wild put pressure on the Canuck defense, but could not get the equalizer. Zach Parise and Ryan Suter had the best chances in the third period. However, Parise did not have the room to beat Luongo and Suter rang the rebound off the cross bar. Suter is still looking for his first goal as a member of the Wild.
The Canucks (8-2-2) scored the first two goals of the game on a one-timer in the slot on the power play and a backdoor defensive breakdown for the only even strength goal of the game.
