The Minnesota Wild will be big players in the pursuit of the top NHL free agents.

The most sought after player will be Minneapolis native forward Zach Parise.

The 5-foot-11-inch, 195-pound captain of the New Jersey Devils recorded at least 30 goals and 30 assists in five of the last six seasons. The only exception was a three goal-three assist performance in 13 games due to a torn meniscus during the 2010-11 season.

The Wild proved last season that it has the core players to be a Stanley Cup contender after surging to the best record in the entire NHL in early December, but as injuries mounted it showed the importance of having depth.

The Wild have the cap space to make a run at the former Shattuck-St. Mary’s School and University of North Dakota star.
