The Minnesota Wild extended its team-record seventh consecutive road win with a 3-0 victory over the Phoenix Coyotes Saturday at Arena.

Kyle Brodziak took over the Wild’s team lead in goals with a pair of power play scores. Both goals came shortly after the man advantage started. The first came off a rebound from a Pierre-Marc Bouchard shot at the left point. The second came on a wrap around following a shot by Jared Spurgeon that was deflected by Mikko Koivu.

Those Brodziak goals sandwiched an even strength goal by Mikko Koivu. Koivu one-timed a pass from Jeff Taffe past Coyotes goaltender Mike Smith. Apple Valley native recorded his first point as a member of the Wild with a long breakout pass to Taffe at the Coyotes’ blue line.

Taffe, a Hastings native and former Minnesota Golden Gopher, was called up Thursday and recorded assists in both of his with the Wild.

Dany Heatley capped the scoring with by redirecting a shot by Spurgeon past Smith on the power play. Heatley’s goal gave the Wild a three-for-four day on the power play. Bouchard and Spurgeon both recorded their second assists of the game on the goal.

The Wild (20-7-3) began the win streak on Nov. 28 at the Xcel Energy Center after consecutive 5-2 losses at home. Including its active streak, the Wild has three win streaks of at least five games.

Niklas Backstrom stopped 35 shots and held the Coyotes scoreless for most of the game.

The Coyotes (15-11-3) avoided the shutout on its final shot of the game with just under four minutes remaining. Backstrom had no chance as Lauri Korpikoski sent a laser over his glove on a one-timer in the slot.
