The Minnesota Wild selected  defenseman Jonas Brodin of Farjestad in the Swedish Elite League with  the 10th overall pick of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft Friday at the Xcel Energy  Center.

Before I give my opinion, GM Chuck Fletcher has a proven track record with  drafting good players.

With that said, I do not like the pick.

I can explain why in three reasons.

1) The Wild have very good young defensive defensemen.

2) He doesn't seem much different than the guys that are already in the  system.

3) The Wild have a glaring need for a scorer and there are at least two  forwards still on the board that I think will be first or second line  scorers before Brodin is NHL-ready.

Fletcher has a proven track record with drafting good players and stock piled  the organization with four very good forwards in last year's draft, so I will  wait to completely throw the Wild management under the bus.
